Instructor Information
 
BRUCE HOWARD
Bruce Howard started playing organized baseball at the age of nine. He continued
through Little League and Pony League as a pitcher and an outfielder. In 1966, he
pitched two games in four days. He struck out 27 batters in 14 innings, gave up
three hits and allowed no walks.
From 1966-1969, Howard played high school baseball. He was a three year starter as a
pitcher and outfielder and posted a .400 batting average. He was offered a
scholarship to Brunswick Junior College as a pitcher.
From 1970-1971, Howard played City League Baseball. He later played soft pitch softball,
where he hit over 500 home runs.
He later coached girls softball from 1981-1985; the team's won-loss record was 52-11. In
his last season as a coach, the team's batting average was .618; they averaged 29 runs
per game.
Howard has taught hitting since 1989. In 1994, he opened "Field of Dreams Hitting
School."
LARRY KOVACH
Larry Kovach has been involved in organized sports at all levels from Mighty Mites
through high school since the early 1980's. His involvement has included
participation, organization, officiating, and coaching.
At the recreation level, Kovach coached and experienced success in all major sports
including baseball, basketball, football, and soccer, leading several teams to
both district and state level competition.
Since 1990, Kovach has specialized in the study and teaching of baseball, focusing
primarily on the science of hitting. He is a Certified Sports Vision Instructor;
he studied at H.R.A. Sports Vision Institute in Silver Springs, Maryland under the
guidance of Harvey Ratner. He is also a Sport Specific Ballistic Training Instructor,
having received his training from Tim Nolan of the PROCUT Hitting System in Rockford,
Illinois.
Since that time, he has also been a member of the American Baseball Coaches
Association, and has attended several national conventions. To further enhance
his education, Kovach has attended numerous clinics and tradeshows.
In Kovach's own words:
"I believe by learning the correct practice techniques, you will experience success
in the game of baseball or softball. This will help you build self-confidence and
allow you to enjoy sharing your individual accomplishments within a team environment."
WADE ODUM
Wade Odum is a native of Odum, Georgia. He attended Wayne County High School and South
Georgia College, and is a graduate of the University of Georgia.
Among his career honors:
- High school team batting average award
- High school team MVP award
- High school All-State Catcher
- Professional Baseball - Northern League All-Star, Huron, South Dakota
- N.B.C. All-State Catcher
- Semi-Pro Baseball - Georgia and Hutchinson Broncs, Kansas
His professional experience includes assistant coaching for both South Georgia
College and the University of Georgia; eight years as a high school coach; University
of Georgia Baseball Camp; Eric Solderholm Hitting School in Chicago; Sports Vision
techniques learned from H.R.A. Sports Training Center, in Baltimore, Maryland; and
Ballistic Training techniques learned from Tim Nolan of the PROCUT Hitting System,
Rockford, Illinois.

"For as long as I have been associated with baseball, from the Little League to the
Pros, I have realized the importance of proper training both physically and mentally
to achieve great things in the game of baseball. Now with the help of the
Field of Dreams Hitting School, we can present the philosophies and training
techniques that helped me in my baseball career.
By utilizing a team of highly qualified instructors working together with small
groups, we have provided boys and girls with more self confidence, basic
fundamentals and thrilling experiences. Our goal is to allow each participant
to grow and experience SUCCESS in the games of baseball and softball.
